A 21-year-old Ukrainian man, Sergey K., was brutally murdered in Vienna after being tortured for access to his cryptocurrency wallets. The son of a Kharkiv deputy mayor, Sergey was found burned alive in a vehicle on November 26. Two Ukrainian suspects have been arrested.

Investigators believe the attackers lured Sergey to a hotel parking lot, assaulted him, and forced him to transfer funds from two wallets before setting the car ablaze. The case underscores the rising risks faced by crypto holders as digital assets become lucrative targets for violent crime.

No specific coins or exchanges were mentioned in connection with the incident, but the tragedy highlights the need for enhanced security measures in the crypto space. The victim’s holdings were reportedly substantial, though details remain undisclosed.
